The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is an independent, non-profit organization that develops safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of recreational boats. ABYC’s nationally accredited certification program is designed to improve the quality of boat maintenance and repair and the professionalism of technicians.
ABYC Certified Technicians have demonstrated their technical expertise by studying for and passing a difficult certification exam, which is verified by a third party educational auditor ensuring relevance and value. To keep up with ever changing technology, technicians must earn continuing education credits and are retested every 5 years.
